Everyday kitchen measurements

For 2 servings. Use a small 180 ml paper cup, a level eating spoon (about 15 ml) and a small teaspoon (about 5 ml).

How to fill the cup and spoons

Use the same cup and spoons throughout. Their sizes vary, so these amounts are approximate. Spoon flour in loosely and level the top without pressing. Measure vegetables after chopping, without packing them down. The amounts in g/ml are the original reference quantities. For part of a pack, use the specified pack weight and divide the contents evenly.

Essential, optional and substitute ingredients

Keep essential ingredients. For a replacement, use its listed amount and cooking changes instead of that ingredient’s original amount. Skip optional ingredients and their preparation if omitted. Photos show the original recipe.

  • Essential

Use plain soju; flavored soju may make this already-sweet drink too sweet.

  • Substitute available

If Plain drinking yogurt — 1 paper cup (180 ml) is unavailable

If drinking yogurt is unavailable, thin 3/4 paper cup plain yogurt with 1/4 paper cup cold milk; dairy-free drinkable yogurt can replace it for a different taste.

  • Substitute available

If Fresh strawberries — 6 medium, hulled is unavailable

Use 1/2 paper cup thawed frozen strawberries if fresh berries are unavailable. Keep the fruit cold.

  • Optional

Leave it out if the yogurt or berries are sweet enough.

  • Optional

Use well-chilled glasses and ingredients if there is no ice.

Tap each ingredient as you prepare it. Check product labels for egg, soy, sesame, wheat, fish or shellfish where relevant.

Step-by-step cooking

  1. Step 1

Wash 6 strawberries and remove the green tops. Mash the berries with a fork in a small bowl; divide the mashed fruit between two clean glasses. Keep the yogurt and berries cold until you make the drinks.

  2. Step 2

Pour 1/2 paper cup cold drinking yogurt and 1/4 paper cup (45 ml) plain soju into each glass. Stir slowly until the fruit streaks through the yogurt; do not add citrus juice, which may curdle it.

  3. Step 3

Taste before adding a little honey. Add ice if using, stir once, and serve immediately. Return any unopened dairy to the refrigerator.
